It is very, very frustrating because I do the same thing you described, where I bounce back and forth between my local computer and servers I keep in windows until I want to full screen them to do work and for years the windows have always been in the same position and size after being placed in the morning and have stayed the same through the entire day Was this reply helpful? We work remote and do a LOT of CAD design work so we are connect to our dual screen workstations with dual screen home computers. We have to keep changing back and forth from full screen to work on things locally. Each time we exit full screen, the RDP window grows more and more until it started encroaching onto our second monitor, even if we shrink it to half the size of one of our monitors. Just found another quirky thing. I run dual monitors and have been unmaximizing RDP to my left monitor.
Decided to try if it would work better on my right monitor. So I unmaximized RDP, dragged it to the right monitor and maximized it. When I unmaximized it, it popped onto my right monitor and looked to be about the same size as before. So it won’t stay on my right monitor unmaximized. Hey Microsoft, please fix this. This started immediately after the Windows 10 20H2 update. This is a standard hack for other Microsoft products like Word that won’t remember your last window position, to force close which for some reason does save the window position.
This is unacceptable! Add me to the list of annoyed people. I just recently moved from Win8. I was shocked to find this behavior because it worked flawlessly in Win8. Obviously this is a bug in Win But it should be easy to fix.
I am constantly flipping between a full screen RDP to a re-sized RDP window, and this bug forces me to re-size the window dozens of time per day. If you have an RDP window in full screen, and you click the “Restore Down” button the square one between the – and X , then window resizes to some random size this is normal. This is working ok so far.
I now maximize the RDP window back to full screen – this too works normally. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
